The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary 317

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 27 of our latest lock down. This morning the neighbourhood is cold with the winter freeze but soon we will experience the death of winter and the birth of spring, but also this morning in Ballinwillin we mourn the death and passing of Joe Mulcahy our neighbour, a legend in the music business and a founding member of the famous Maurice Mulcahy Band. A band that gave huge enjoyment to thousands of people worldwide. This morning our prayers are with his family, friends and neighbours. Now destiny calls Joe to a place of music where his trumpet will sound again for all our spiritual enjoyment, where his heart will always remain generous, all heavenly doors will open to his musical light as you now quietly befriend your death and you have no need to fear. You are among your own orchestra in the big band with your pure white suit you are now equal to your destiny and nearer to Earths heart. Rest in peace Joe. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 946

I daily ask people to pray as they go about their lives and family routine. It is like any routine or fitness, the more you practice, the better and fitter you become and you develop a level of mindfulness through peace, prayer and happiness. It can be life changing.

Welcome once more to The Mindful Farmers thought for the day. What prompted me to write this today was hearing Ray Darcy talk about “the old man”, about letting him in or out as we age. I am heading fast for 70 years and as a farmer and living in nature and in peace I find this process happens naturally when you live by faith and less by sight. I believe in the power of blessings. Growing up in rural West Limerick blessings and prayer were at the forefront of our lives. We had a prayer for everything. We sprinkled Holy water on everyone who entered the home, we blessed and sprinkled Holy water on our animals and this weave of blessings was constant and healing. This was our mindfulness and the way we managed our mental health in the home, the parish and the community. This way of life was a constant recognition of being here and living a full and spiritual life. We did not see life, work or time as a routine. Irrespective of our beliefs or our religion we all belong to a deeper divine order and we should look on life as an act of creative service. In our so-called modern world we are all so busy it is ironic that we continue to spiritually live like prayers though our inheritance of spirit is so vast. I daily ask people to pray as they go about their lives and family routine. It is like any routine or fitness, the more you practice, the better and fitter you become and you develop a level of mindfulness through peace, prayer and happiness. It can be life changing. It is achievable through living our lives in nature with a shy beauty infused by blessings. These are the simple views of The Mindful Farmer and thanks to you and Michael Harding for the laughs along my peaceful drive to Connemara and as I sit in the carpark of the church in Barna.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 945

A challenge for us all is to inspire happiness and confidence in at least one person on a daily basis. It won't change the world but it will help.

Good morning everyone and welcome to my view from my window of wonder on this bright, brisk Monday morning in Connemara. This morning while I was out for my morning walk by the beautiful beach I met a lady walking against me. We already had something in common. We were both walking with the aid of our sticks. She smiled at me and said "dia dhuit" and I retorted "Dia is muire dhuit" and before I got engulfed in the local Irish language I broke ranks quickly and said "isn't it a beautiful morning and quickly she responded saying we are going to have the best day ever. I replied with "if we believe, it will be". What a wonderful way to approach any day and the confidence we exchanged was very uplifting and we went our separate ways, full charged and happy. A challenge for us all is to inspire happiness and confidence in at least one person on a daily basis. It won't change the world but it will help. Monday October 17th may not have been the best day of my life but the lady in yellow certainly did her best to send me on my way. It was a great day. I met some great people and we all exchanged charged positivity. By the way, the lady in yellow was wearing a bright yellow raincoat and yellow boots hence the title "Lady in yellow."

Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peac, hope, love and happiness to all who need it and wear your Monday smile.

“There is always beauty in this world of ours. A quiet and silent parish where a church bell rings. Where there is faith and love in all our homes. Speak only of these special things.”

Good morning everyone and welcome to another beautiful yet frosty Sunday morning, our first of the year and when I see the white frost glistening on the grass this morning I admire its natural beauty and think of the words of Granduncle Jack "there is always beauty in this world of ours. A quiet and silent parish where a church bell rings. Where there is faith and love in all our homes. Speak only of these special things." Beautiful, thoughtful words as my feet crunch the glistening and stiff grass. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope, love and happiness to all who need it and wear your Sunday best smile.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 943

Today, I urge all farmers to pray as they go about their daily and family routine.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, Gardens and RetrEat centre, Earlier this morning I was listening to Damien O'Reilly on his excellent farming programme at 8am. One of the discussions centered around the mental health of farmers which is a very important issue or topic as farmers, many of which work on their own for long periods of time, work very long hours seven days a week which can put a lot of pressure on family life and relationships. As a farmer myself I understand this situation very well. What I found interesting in the discussion with a farm leader was that many areas were covered regarding help and counselling and so on. I was disappointed that there was no reference to prayer, peace or God. I am not being sanctimonious here but growing up in rural Ireland we always prayed first thing in the morning and last thing at night. We sprinkled Holy water on everyone who passed the threshold of the house, the cow house, the chicken house or the pig house. When we finished milking the cows we dipped our thumb in the cows milk and marked the sign of the cross on her back and blessed her and her milk. We blessed people we met, people who visited and they, us. This weave of blessings was constant and healing which was our mindfulness, our mental healing in the home parish. It was a constant recognition of being here and our rural minds being very spiritual did not see time or work as routine. Irrespective of our beliefs or religion we all belong to a deeper, divine order and we must look at life as an act of creative service. Today, I urge all farmers to pray as they go about their daily and family routine.

We can only see others through the eyes of God and that view is steady and sure and when we view people through God's eyes we can all see ourselves as deeply and eternally loved. It is then we can find that beautiful peace that I often refer to as "worshiped in spirit and in truth".

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, Gardens and RetrEat centre. Last evening I had the challenging task of calming a lovely, kind person who was at the receiving end of some very unkind words from a neighbour who she thought was her friend. We must be aware of the view we have of people through other people's eyes. This is a very dangerous practice. It is impossible to discern what people think of you and all views can be very variable and subject to all kinds of variables. We can only see others through the eyes of God and that view is steady and sure and when we view people through God's eyes we can all see ourselves as deeply and eternally loved. It is then we can find that beautiful peace that I often refer to as "worshiped in spirit and in truth". Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope, love and happiness to all who need it and wear your Friday smile.

we must be aware of the wonder outside our window and all around us. We can see it in the garden, on the farm with the animals, the trees, the plants, the birds - it is all around us and there for us only to open our eyes and hearts to it

Good morning everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers peace seat in the peace month of October. I talk of peace through my window of wonder but we must be aware of the wonder outside our window and all around us. We can see it in the garden, on the farm with the animals, the trees, the plants, the birds - it is all around us and there for us only to open our eyes and hearts to it, to appreciate this beauty and understand it and then live in it and then we can be truly at peace with ourselves and with nature and go on to live in that harmony where you will recognise in your life the presence, power and light of your soul. Go in peace today and continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope, love and happiness to all who need it.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 940

They will all withdraw now into their own tranquil shells where they will draw deep from their own dignity and learn that there is time for everything and especially for healing.

Good morning everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers prayer day for the people of Creeslough in Donegal. Families and the community have suffered hugely with ten loved ones being swept away in a moment of thunder and destruction. The prayers of the whole country and further afield are with the families who have lost their loved ones. It is a very painful and fragile situation now and I pray that patience and respect over time some fresh healing might be coaxed to grace a new journey for all involved. They will all withdraw now into their own tranquil shells where they will draw deep from their own dignity and learn that there is time for everything and especially for healing. Now is not that time "yet" and we will fill that "yet" time with deep prayer for these people and this community and let them know they are not alone and that this darkness will gradually school your eyes and your hearts to recognise a new found confidence coming alive and urge you all to higher ground where you have learnt to engage difficulty and horrors as it's most rewarding threshold but for now close your eyes and gather all the love you can around your hearts. What more can I say only pray, pray, pray.

All my powers are in one direction this morning.

It is very important we all see the child in the person before us and respect that child. Real respect and living, knowledge and understanding comes from realising that there is an inner being in us all.

Good morning everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers window of wonder. Yesterday was a beautiful day, World Mental Health Day. Everyone I met and those I visited here were all in a happy and peaceful mood and I thought to myself and asked all of them if it is possible to live life like this everyday and the answer of course is YES. How do we do this? My daily practice is one of peace and then everything is possible. Part of our lifes task is to reclaim the child in us all. When we are childlike we know by instinct that we are loved and important and we matter. We are unique and everyone around the child, you and me, are wishing us well and prayers for us, then as we walk the journey of life we realise, or at least we should realise that we are all connected and interlinked to all and everyone that has gone before us and that is present and we are preparing for the future. It is very important we all see the child in the person before us and respect that child. Real respect and living, knowledge and understanding comes from realising that there is an inner being in us all. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope, love and happiness to all who need it and wear your Tuesday smile.

My prayers for this young woman is that God will grant her the strength to carry on and we all support her with prayer, kindness, tenderness and protection for her future and that some day they will again find each other in each other's hearts and comfort each other in eternity.

Good evening everyone and welcome to Ballinwillin House Farm, Gardens and RetrEat centre. Today I was at a sad funeral of a great friend of mine. Her husband actually, a young life taken from a beautiful and talented young woman. What can we say in a situation like this? My prayers for this young woman is that God will grant her the strength to carry on and we all support her with prayer, kindness, tenderness and protection for her future and that some day they will again find each other in each other's hearts and comfort each other in eternity. Your soul will never allow you to be haunted by the past structures of old damage, it will heal you, guard you and protect you. It is your eternal parent.

Good evening everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers thought for the day. I often refer to my window of wonder yet we seldom think about our soul and how it looks with wonder at our outside world. We must pay attention to this voice also and its vision as it inhabits our life with sureness in the same way as our body inhabits the world. May the secret providence of your soul guide you and nurture you to realise your dreams along through the safe destination of your life. Your soul will never allow you to be haunted by the past structures of old damage, it will heal you, guard you and protect you. It is your eternal parent. Every thought, every happening, every coming and going are all miracles in their own way. We must be awake to celebrate all these happenings that draw no attention to themselves.

Good evening everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers window of wonder. All during the day and on a long drive one has lots of time to think, pray and experience each and every day as a sacred gift woven around my heart of wonder and then my eyes can see clearly through my window of wonder that allows me to take the time to celebrate the quiet wonders that seek no attention in ones lives but are happening all the time. Just think about it for a little while. Every thought, every happening, every coming and going are all miracles in their own way. We must be awake to celebrate all these happenings that draw no attention to themselves. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all who need it and wear your Friday smile.

He would say when the trees began to shed their leaves they were beginning to relax into the Autumn with the weight off their branches.

Good evening everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers window of wonder. Leaf fall is in full flow now and seems to begin earlier each year. My Granduncle Jack, whose words of wisdom I often refer to, used to say that every month had a different feel to it. September was his harvest month and he referred to October as his peace month. He would say when the trees began to shed their leaves they were beginning to relax into the Autumn with the weight off their branches. Jack always has wise and interesting words and very thought provoking but I am very happy to devote October to being my peace month on his advice and I hope you all do likewise. When I am travelling I find myself alone in a very different way and I find that even though I am not at home, part of my heart remains in the home, on the farm and in the gardens. The rest of my heart travels with a new silence listening wisely to my inner ground blessed by the beauty I will experience along the way.

Good evening everyone and welcome once more to The Mindful Farmers window of wonder. As I am travelling a lot at the moment I am very conscious that every time I leave, another road takes me into a world I have never been before. I will meet new people, visit new places. When I am travelling I find myself alone in a very different way and I find that even though I am not at home, part of my heart remains in the home, on the farm and in the gardens. The rest of my heart travels with a new silence listening wisely to my inner ground blessed by the beauty I will experience alone the way. I pray for my safety and for the safety of other travellers on my way and when I reach journeys end I trust my memory will harvest the joys I have experienced alone the way and I will return home more enriched, peaceful and free. let us all be artists of our own day and destiny and live by faith and not by sight and do at last what you came here for and waste our hearts on fear no more.

Good evening everyone and welcome to another new week, another new beginning, another new day, new dawn and isn't it magic when we see darkness breaking into colour and light. Isn't it a promise of invitation and possibility? Each day is a field of brightness sent to awaken and challenge us. No day is ever the same, no day stands still. Each day moves through a different and new territory. Each day as I sit down to write this page I have no idea what I am going to write until I open the diary and take pen in hand but I know my creative work and words will find their own direction. Each of us is an artist of our own days. The greater our peace, our happiness, our awareness the more original and creative our work will become. So on this Monday let us all be artists of our own day and destiny and live by faith and not by sight and do at last what you came here for and waste our hearts on fear no more. When we find ourselves living out through peace and happiness whether it is in our daily work, walking, farming, gardening, cooking, driving or talking then we are following the path of truth, peace and justice and bringing peace and happiness on earth in a more profound and expansive way than we can imagine.

Good evening everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers view from his window of wonder today. I have to say that I found September to be a profoundly peaceful and happy month and I have been saying to all my friends and followers that "peace and happiness is the new rich." When we find ourselves living out through peace and happiness whether it is in our daily work, walking, farming, gardening, cooking, driving or talking then we are following the path of truth, peace and justice and bringing peace and happiness on earth in a more profound and expansive way than we can imagine. Then our true life is the instrument with which we experience who we really are and who we are meant to be and why we are here. It is a time when I think of all the beautiful colours of the harvest, unique in their beauty and full in their bounty just like the harvest and all the yellow sunshine that breaks the morning mist, the deep blue of the ocean, the golden sand and then the September evening, the last evening pink to kiss the month goodbye.

Good evening everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers harvest message. Yes, it is the last day of one of my favourite months. September was always referred to as "the harvest month" in West Limerick and yes, it was a great harvest. A happy and yielding harvest on the farm and a safe one which is very important. It was also a very prayerful harvest for me and I trust that all the people I have thought about and prayed for feel that yielding also. Yes, every month is different, first like us all whatever race, whatever creed, poor or super power. Yes, of course, each of us is equal no matter what our name. Thank you September for your precious gifts and your cheery, cheery days. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all who need it and wear your Friday last day of September smile.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 927

When we are created and come to birth we are chosen to be blessed. We have emerged from the forest of dreaming. It is up to us then to clear a pathway through this forest into a clearance of individuality and on this pathway we will find in our hearts the longing for beauty, meaning order, creativity, compassion and love.

Good evening everyone and welcome to The Mindful Farmers daily written chat. When I sit down daily to write my piece I usually sit in silence and peace in a tranquil location and then in a little while what I am going to write about just flows into my mind through my heart and out. Today my thoughts wander to my being here. Rilke comes to mind when he says "to be here is immense". To be chosen to be here is immense. When we arrive into this world we inherit everything that has proceeded us, we become heirs to the world and we are the chosen ones. When we are created and come to birth we are chosen to be blessed. We have emerged from the forest of dreaming. It is up to us then to clear a pathway through this forest into a clearance of individuality and on this pathway we will find in our hearts the longing for beauty, meaning order, creativity, compassion and love. Today we can all enjoy and voyage through on this pathway. All it needs is to be mindful of who we are and where we have come from. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all who need it and wear your Thursday smile.
