The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary 317

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 27 of our latest lock down. This morning the neighbourhood is cold with the winter freeze but soon we will experience the death of winter and the birth of spring, but also this morning in Ballinwillin we mourn the death and passing of Joe Mulcahy our neighbour, a legend in the music business and a founding member of the famous Maurice Mulcahy Band. A band that gave huge enjoyment to thousands of people worldwide. This morning our prayers are with his family, friends and neighbours. Now destiny calls Joe to a place of music where his trumpet will sound again for all our spiritual enjoyment, where his heart will always remain generous, all heavenly doors will open to his musical light as you now quietly befriend your death and you have no need to fear. You are among your own orchestra in the big band with your pure white suit you are now equal to your destiny and nearer to Earths heart. Rest in peace Joe. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

Our parents and ancestors had a very close connection with nature. It is our duty to pass on this love and connection with Mother Nature to our children and grandchildren. She needs our help.

Good morning everyone and welcome. What a beautiful, sunny September morning! The dew was heavy on the grass this morning and for years I have had a love affair with the early morning dew. I think it is, I used to watch my late Mum wash her face in the morning dew from Spring to late Autumn and I am reminded of a prayer she used to recite. It was a prayer to the grass and the dew. It went as follows:- Let me so walk upon you and even though you must bend your head under me as I pass by. You will know often I am gone that I am your sister." Our parents and ancestors had a very close connection with nature. It is our duty to pass on this love and connection with Mother Nature to our children and grandchildren. She needs our help/ Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Sunday best smile.

Wouldn't it be nice if we in turn ask God to assist Him in His creative work in the world today and everyday?

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, Gardens and RetrEat centre. Many of us in life when in trouble or experiencing difficulties turn to God in prayer for help and assistance and comfort. Help will always come at the meaningful time as it is meant to be. Wouldn't it be nice if we in turn ask God to assist Him in His creative work in the world today and everyday? This work and prayer with God can make all the difference helping God with His work, knowing that God wills only what is best for us and that is our privilege to assist in His creation. We must always be true to ourselves. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Saturday smile.

Nature has once again performed mothering us with plenty of colour and fragrance and we can see the interconnectedness of our own garden of life which is the creator's garden. Now it is time for us to live our life in harmony with the universe.

Good morning everyone and welcome. It is the first day of September, one of my favourite months of the year, the other is May. In September and in the working farming year we toiled for eight months and it is time to enjoy our farm, our garden, as the majority of the year's work is complete. The hay and silage in the barn, the garden now beginning to rest and spread its seed, we have sown the seeds of joy, beauty, love and authenticity with hope and courage. Nature has once again performed mothering us with plenty of colour and fragrance and we can see the interconnectedness of our own garden of life which is the creator's garden. Now it is time for us to live our life in harmony with the universe. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Friday smile.

Grief will continue to ambush you from time to time and sorrow remains faithful to itself. Gradually the wounds of loss will heal with the help and support of prayer, prayer, prayer. That is all our duty until the work of grief is done and the deep well of tears has reduced to its very last drop.

Good morning everyone and welcome. We have all heard and read about the series of road tragedies in Tipperary over the past few days. It is horrific, it is heart wrenching and will open huge wounds of grief for all the families involved and all our prayers are now with them. When we lose someone very close to us, especially family members, someone you love dearly, life changes suddenly and can become strange. All around you is fragile. Your life is unsure and people's words offer no confidence. Your heart has grown heavy with your loss and everyone is wounded around you. The silence of absence deepens, words left unsaid, deeds undone. Grief will continue to ambush you from time to time and sorrow remains faithful to itself. Gradually the wounds of loss will heal with the help and support of prayer, prayer, prayer. That is all our duty until the work of grief is done and the deep well of tears has reduced to its very last drop. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Thursday smile.

There is no doubting the fact that there are great people in this world, great people and full of goodness. They are a blessing to behold. When these people are present amongst us they engender new life, strength, healing, courage and vitality by their very presence.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 1261

I hope it inspired this little young man of four years to respect and enjoy nature and as we moved homeward he smelt the perfume of the roses and joyfully watched the butterflies float from buddleia to buddleia and then I explained this was the butterfly bush, especially for butterflies and then we walked homeward to enjoy a supper with food from the farm. We walked together trusting hand in hand. I know he gets it and will continue what his dad and I have begun.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Last evening I was watching TV and Christy Moore was singing the song "when the clock winds down". It is a song about nature and the damage we are doing to Mother Nature. We need a wild nature just as our ancestors knew. A ling in the song went, a young child asking an old man "what did you do?" A profound question. We all need to do more and a few days ago before my Grandson JJ left for Melbourne he was out on the farm with me feeding the animals, watching them and explaining to him about organic farming, the special grasses, the native trees, picking the blackberries, gathering the kindling to keep GrandPat warm over the winter. All beautiful memories and I hope it inspired this little young man of four years to respect and enjoy nature and as we moved homeward he smelt the perfume of the roses and joyfully watched the butterflies float from buddleia to buddleia and then I explained this was the butterfly bush, especially for butterflies and then we walked homeward to enjoy a supper with food from the farm. The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 1260

I learnt all about hospitality from my parents and our open house and now at Ballinwillin House we share the same hospitality with our guests but my great joy is to visit a home with the same warmth that heals us inside and out. Something deep in the human soul seems to depend on the presence of hospitality and kindness.

Good morning and welcome. Over the weekend I had the beautiful experience of visiting the home of a relatively new friend. The welcome and the hospitality was open and warm hearted but above all generous. In my view, hospitality is love and it is the sharing of that love and what you have. The spirit of hospitality needs to be cherished, cultivated and fostered. Hospitality can be life giving. Hospitality is a love and gift that clothes us, enfolds and embraces us and on this occasion surrounds us and I hope and pray it never leaves us. I learnt all about hospitality from my parents and our open house and now at Ballinwillin House we share the same hospitality with our guests but my great joy is to visit a home with the same warmth that heals us inside and out. There are circumstances in families where it is unavoidable and family members are unable to care for their elderly loved ones. It is very understandable but in many cases people just can't be bothered and cop out in epic moral preparations. Greed and selfishness wear many disguises but happy is the heart that behaves honourably.

Good morning everyone and welcome. I was reading an article yesterday by Garreth O'Callaghan and in it he wrote "treat our elders with the respect they deserve". I have often heard it said when I was a child also. In ancient civilisations and also in West Limerick sixty years ago the word "elder" held huge respect. It meant leader, chief, teacher, wise one. What has happened our modern society as it seems to have forgotten these great people. Are they now seen as a burden on society and I mean all members of society. There are circumstances in families where it is unavoidable and family members are unable to care for their elderly loved ones. It is very understandable but in many cases people just can't be bothered and cop out in epic moral preparations. Greed and selfishness wear many disguises but happy is the heart that behaves honourably. Let us all pray today for our elders and give them the restect they deserve and continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Sunday best smile.

Many people get sttranded between time, time gone and time emerging but daily prayer will lead us home to rest in the beauty of our own being where we can feel the earth breathing with us.

Good morning everyone and welcome. From viewing the landscape around me this morning Mother Earth has a voice of its own. The waves of the ocean find their own way home, the birds of all types find their way home. We also find our way home having flown the nest. Many people get stranded between time, time gone and time emerging but daily prayer will lead us home to rest in the beauty of our own being where we can feel the earth breathing with us. If we are drawn where our hearts are hardened, alarm bells should ring to reassure us and place us in a place of peace where all that is strained in us comes to ease.

Good morning everyone and welcome. When you are confused and isolated like I have been for the past while one discovers it is far wiser to withdraw from time to time even when by no choice namely Covid than be drawn into our noisy, busy world. This is a place where no one wants to be drawn to yet many, many do. If we are drawn where our hearts are hardened, alarm bells should ring to reassure us and place us in a place of peace where all that is strained in us comes to ease. Nature is doing its job and slowly nursing me back to health. Good morning everyone and welcome. The Mindful Farmer is locked down in exile but in his favourite place due to Covid. Nature is doing its job and slowly nursing me back to health. Living in isolation in this primeval place where the rock has welcomed millions of years of weather and visitors, where the ocean continuously kisses and lashes its boundaries, it stands firm and is wreathed by a magical blue tuscan light. To be here is immense even under a Covid cloud. The wind blowing westward will heal me back to full health again. I believe such places will emere and incarnate its hidden night in mind, spirit and light. Today I am going to place in my memory bank this ancient place with passion, fluency and warmth and its sureness will always remain.

Good morning everyone and welcome to a bright, windy August morning. Yesterday evening I paid a visit to one of my favourite places in the world and I was compelled to revisit it again today. I am so thankful that such beauty lies nearer and dearer to my mind, heart and soul. I am so fortunate that I can awaken to live this dream to the fullest and dream with this place, earth and ocean. I believe such places will emerge and incarnate its hidden night in mind, spirit and light. Today I am going to place in my memory bank this ancient place with passion, fluency and warmth and its sureness will always remain. The important thing for me is that the colours of the landscape, the flavours of the fruits still hold the same memories. These memories hold something fine and beautiful for each day and then I store it in the memory bank to be revisited again and again with never failing interest.

Good morning everyone and welcome. What I notice about rural Ireland's nature and landscape is that all forms of flowering and fruiting is approximately one month ahead of what it was about fifty years ago. The obvious and loudest answer is global warming and this may be the case. The important thing for me is that the colours of the landscape, the flavours of the fruits still hold the same memories. These memories hold something fine and beautiful for each day and then I store it in the memory bank to be revisited again and again with never failing interest. This spiritual interest that our memories make will grow and grow and grow. Make a little memory today and watch it grow and grow. If we have a few memories, beautiful memories, in our lives we will probably suffer less disturbances in our soul. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Tuesday smile.

We can learn a lot from this beautiful plant and no matter what happens to us in life we can shine, smile and look our best and be an example to others. There is a quiet light that shines in every heart and the fuschia turned on my light this morning.

Good morning everyone and welcome. The remnants of storm Betty are still hovering, high winds and heavy rain but while I was out walking earlier I was awestruck by the vibrancy of the fuschia bushes everywhere. They were being tossed and turned every which way but their bright red radiance still stood out. We can learn a lot from this beautiful plant and no matter what happens to us in life we can shine, smile and look our best and be an example to others. I believe firmly in the power of prayer and peace and with the peace of God encircling you we can all live peacefully.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Well, the last 24 hours have been tough on nature. Mother Nature is in bad form, raging down on us with flooding storms. And that's just Ireland. We are not suffering too badly when you see the raging fires in Europe and all over the world. Storm Betty hit us yesterday and thank God we had little or no damage on the farm and around the house. I was extremely worried and though we took precautions Betty didn't focus on us. We were all praying for our safety, the safety of family and friends. I believe firmly in the power of prayer and peace and with the peace of God encircling you we can all live peacefully. The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 1251

While we live in this world we will always live with distance. The way I will deal with my family distance is with prayer and blessing. The beauty of blessing is that it recognises no barriers and no distance. It converts distance and emptiness into a loving and spiritual space. My consoling mind tells me that the very idea of blessing was designed to nurture the traveller, the loved one who is far from home.

Good morning everyone and welcome. It is all quiet here again in the blink of an eye. Firstly, we had a magnificent two weeks with the whole family together in unity and it was wonderful, warm and complete but alas they are now all dispensed again to the far flung places of our world. They are all following their own dreams just as we did but that doesn't make it easier. The silence, the emptiness leaves a pang of loneliness, that gap from joy to sadness but it is all part of living with and in distance. It doesn't make it any easier. The nest is almost empty. Creativity may be the richest course of answers to many of society’s problems today. It is a spiritual action in which a person forgets about themselves, moves outside of themselves and is absorbed in the tack and it is unique to all and every person. “The invisible is the parent of the creative visible.”

Good morning everyone and welcome. Yesterday I spent some time in the company of some very creative people. I have always noticed that when the creative spirit is within us all is released and given expression we are more relaxed and convivial and more joy filled. Creativity may be the richest course of answers to many of society's problems today. It is a spiritual action in which a person forgets about themselves, moves outside of themselves and is absorbed in the tack and it is unique to all and every person. Our minds, bodies and souls always need help and prayer. Nature is the nurse that heals tired souls and weary bodies so let her have her way with you and enjoy the experience as often as you can. Let's all pray together in the name of nature, air, the breeze and the wind and may our souls stay in rhythm with eternal breath.

Good morning everyone and welcome. We are having a lovely spell of weather at the moment and when it is like this I like to live outside as much as possible. The best medicines are fresh air, sunshine, trust and faith. Trust is the spirit sun, your being enwrapped by the divine spirit. Faith is the souls breathing in of the divine spirit. Today was always a great day in West Limerick as we celebrated the feast of the assumption as it celebrates the virgin Marys bodily ascent into heaven. We walked the long, rugged, wet passageway to her beautiful statue. The crows would circle overhead the nearby river rapidly, noisedly, torrenting past and then we would kneel down and drink the blessed fresh water and maybe stock up for the Holy water at home.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Today was always a great day in West Limerick as we celebrated the feast of the assumption as it celebrates the virgin Marys bodily ascent into heaven. The crows would circle overhead the nearby river rapidly, noisedly, torrenting past and then we would kneel down and drink the blessed fresh water and maybe stock up for the Holy water at home. I always felt great after this visit saying my prayers locally where I was born and fashioned. I would remain for a while to honour all souls past and then easily walk my way home filled and fueled with holiness enough to do me for the year ahead and now it is the time for me to visit again and I will. Blessed water vehicle and dream of all inner voyaging that keeps us alive. Blessed be this water, blessed be this Holy place and well, water our first mother.
