The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary 317

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 27 of our latest lock down. This morning the neighbourhood is cold with the winter freeze but soon we will experience the death of winter and the birth of spring, but also this morning in Ballinwillin we mourn the death and passing of Joe Mulcahy our neighbour, a legend in the music business and a founding member of the famous Maurice Mulcahy Band. A band that gave huge enjoyment to thousands of people worldwide. This morning our prayers are with his family, friends and neighbours. Now destiny calls Joe to a place of music where his trumpet will sound again for all our spiritual enjoyment, where his heart will always remain generous, all heavenly doors will open to his musical light as you now quietly befriend your death and you have no need to fear. You are among your own orchestra in the big band with your pure white suit you are now equal to your destiny and nearer to Earths heart. Rest in peace Joe. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

"every human being had a desire to do some good for others". The basis for his thinking here and I agree with him is that we all have "one human heart" and we all like to believe that we can deal out some small blessings as we go through life. Wouldn't it be nice to think that were true and then we could all live our lives in harmony, peace, beauty and love.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Earlier today a very close friend of mine did something very nice for me. A simple deed but so thoughtful and then a line from William Wordsworth came to mind "every human being had a desire to do some good for others". The basis for his thinking here and I agree with him is that we all have "one human heart" and we all like to believe that we can deal out some small blessings as we go through life. Wouldn't it be nice to think that were true and then we could all live our lives in harmony, peace, beauty and love. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Saturday smile.

He would often say "Patrick you must sing with nature every day and you will live in a world of pure imagination". This morning I closed my eyes and took my mind back to the fields in Patrick's Well with Jack. I felt a rush of joy in my heart and felt more youthful after my journey. Thanks Jack for all the wonderful memories.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Early this morning my mind took me back to my visit to Granny and Grant uncle Jack in Patrick's Well in county Limerick and immediately on arrival Jack would take me out to the fields to see the cattle drink water from the Holy well on the farm and he would always have his hurley and a sliotar with him. Jack was an accomplished lineback and at that time a Munster Railway cup player also. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Friday smile.

What makes us different from each other is up to each one of us to decide but it should be good, it should be our best in everything we do. Be humble, be kind and ask your spirit to sit quietly in your mind so you can hear the Lord's message so clearly and live life in peace.

Good morning everyone and welcome. The question I am frequently asked is what makes us all so different and so individual? Being a similar nation of Celtic people we are really of the same cloth and yet so different in the way we speak, the way we live life, the way we hold our principles and beliefs, our faith, our integrity. What makes us different from each other is up to each one of us to decide but it should be good, it should be our best in everything we do. Be humble, be kind and ask your spirit to sit quietly in your mind so you can hear the Lord's message so clearly and live life in peace. Siblings at their best are always like that, always a help in our times of need and if they aren't, for whatever reason, you can be sure that a part of them very much wants to be.

Good morning everyone and welcome. This morning I would like to pay tribute to our three children whose continuous generosity is very heartwarming as a parent and to know that they are continuously looking after us and keeping us close to their hearts also. Siblings at their best are always like that, always a help in our times of need and if they aren't, for whatever reason, you can be sure that a part of them very much wants to be. Today, let it be a prayer day for all our siblings and bless them and power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Wednesday smile.

What I find to be my greatest strength is my time in prayer and meditation and in peace with God. When we concentrate on the spirit life our mind fills with life, joy and peace.

Good morning everyone and welcome. On a daily basis there is a constant struggle for the control of our minds. There is a constant downward pull on our thoughts. The media bombard us with noise, our phones are attached to our bodies like another limb and then there is everyday life. What I find to be my greatest strength is my time in prayer and meditation and in peace with God. When we concentrate on the spirit life our mind fills with life, joy and peace. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Tuesday smile.

What would our world be like if we didn't have these special people around us? They shower us with kindness and make us feel special on special days. It is a challenge for us all to show kindness to all people every day. Thankfulness also is a duty we must be aware of. Thankfulness for the bird song, for one hour of sunshine, a shower of rain, a bright sky, a smile can be the most curing medicine of all when it is beamed at us.

Yesterday was The Mindful Farmer's birthday and it was a beautiful day and I am so thankful for all the prayers and good wishes from family and friends, the people who are very special to me. So, for today and the beginning of this week make a great start by being kind, thankful and above all wear that smile and continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all.

It is a beautiful thing to sit and rest in nature, to be calm, peaceful, no rushing, no unrest, nothing fitful and when you sow all the above in prayer, nurture them, then life will bear the fruits and flowers we deserve.

Good morning everyone and welcome to a peaceful restful Sunday in September. In meditation earlier this morning I was thinking how beautiful this world of nature is and we all have a personal view, our own very personal appreciation of nature and the world that surrounds us. It is a beautiful thing to sit and rest in nature, to be calm, peaceful, no rushing, no unrest, nothing fitful and when you sow all the above in prayer, nurture them, then life will bear the fruits and flowers we deserve. Have a lovely restful mindful Sunday and continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Sunday best smile.

There will be no storms or pain now for Hilda as she is in a safe place and much nearer to her family and friends then when she was on earth. All our loved ones who have passed behold us now in a way they never could when they lived beside us here on earth and that is because they all live near the source of destiny and their blessings and protection are more accurate and penetrating and will now clothe us in weave after weave of blessings.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Last evening as a family we attended the funeral of a relative of my wife Miriam. These occasions are always sad especially as she was a young woman of just 52 years leaving a family and husband behind in mourning. When we lose someone close to us we naturally weep their loss with their love and memories will always dwell in a safe place in the hearts of their loved ones. So on this restful Saturday in September continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and where your Saturday smile.

When we see life as a circle continuously flowing we will see our life as a unity with God. Take for instance when we rise in the morning, draw back the curtains to let in God's light and air. This act is a prayer in itself if we allow it to uplift our mind to God. Remember that those of us who raise our thoughts to heaven will always have clear days because the sun always shines above the clouds just like this cloudy morning.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Every day we all have to do the basic and simple acts of life and we all have our specific duties. When we see life as a circle continuously flowing we will see our life as a unity with God. Take for instance when we rise in the morning, draw back the curtains to let in God's light and air. This act is a prayer in itself if we allow it to uplift our mind to God. Their blooms at present as we force into autumn are just fantastic and the perfume is just intoxicating. All I can see when I walk through the garden each morning is that it makes my heart leap up and in the words of the poet John Keats "a thing of beauty is a joy forever." It is difficult to describe how beauty lifts one's soul in the morning and sends your mood sky high.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Yesterday evening I sprayed my 120 rose bushes for the last time. I use a home mix my mum used at home for her roses and it is natural and environmentally friendly. They all seem in very good condition with a little black spot and aphid attack just beginning. Their blooms at present as we force into autumn are just fantastic and the perfume is just intoxicating. All I can see when I walk through the garden each morning is that it makes my heart leap up and in the words of the poet John Keats "a thing of beauty is a joy forever." Many things in all our lives have changed but the rut and the stag's seasonal roar will never change, thank God. Nature will not change what has always worked and if we are lucky we won't change much either and live side by side with nature and with good, reliable friends around us. Reliable then and reliable now, just like the stag, just like nature, just like our friends, we need never change.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Last evening and again this morning I was out amongst the deer as the rutting season has just begun. Big John, one of our main stags is in full flight and eager once again to procreate. This time of year in the deer farming calendar is a very defining time where the next generation of animals is taking place. The roar of the stag, his majestic stance and his huge roar can be heard for miles around. It is a wonderful and unique sound especially in the dead of night. Many things in all our lives have changed but the rut and the stag's seasonal roar will never change, thank God. Nature will not change what has always worked and if we are lucky we won't change much either and live side by side with nature and with good, reliable friends around us. We reminisced about the old days, the old ways and the great people in our community. There was very little money circulating in our local economy but we had almost everything in our non monetary economy and the important thing was we could rely on each other which was everything, which was so much, meaning we had so much and we were always thankful for what we had and we always gave praise to the lord of the sun, moon and skies.

Good morning everyone and welcome. I received a beautiful phone call yesterday from an old friend from my home place in West Limerick. He is now in his eighties, a wise man, a very kind man and a great advisor to me in my formative years. Of course we shared and still do share our great love of hurling. There was a saying at home "if there is room in the heart there is room in the house". I think about this saying a lot when I am gardening. Similarly there must be room and space in our hearts for other less fortunate people.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, Gardens and RetrEat centre. Today I am going to put aside for gardening, weeding and feeding and giving the plants more space and light. If we give plants space they will flourish. There was a saying at home "if there is room in the heart there is room in the house". I think about this saying a lot when I am gardening. Similarly there must be room and space in our hearts for other less fortunate people. So, on this Monday, open up your hearts and make more space and time for all our hearts and minds to flourish and continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Monday smile.

"anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake." Now, we all know that neither anger or resentment are worth the space that they occupy in our minds or the damage they will do there. It is important to be aware that we don't carry the burden of someone else's mistakes or wrongs. We must learn to forgive and forget.

Good morning everyone and welcome. Recently I had the pleasure of catching up with a very dear friend and one who is full of wisdom. We discussed many issues and one was concerning "resentment". She said resentment is like holding a hot coal in your hand and expecting someone else to get burnt and she followed on about anger and how useless it is. She quoted "anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake." Now, we all know that neither anger or resentment are worth the space that they occupy in our minds or the damage they will do there. It is important to be aware that we don't carry the burden of someone else's mistakes or wrongs. We must learn to forgive and forget. I know this is not easy but it is possible. When we do so we can carry on living our lives to the full and for the benefit of all around who are near and dear to us. Continue to pray, bless, power healing, peace, hope and love to all and wear your Sunday best smile.

God bless all the wonderful people who work in our hospitals, care centres, nursing homes. They are just God's chosen people. God bless them all.

Good morning everyone and welcome. The Mindful Farmer had a tough enough day yesterday as I was having a procedure done on my shoulder and knees in hospital. The people I encountered from start to finish, doctors, nurses, all staff, were so pleasant. Very often when people are unwell we are low, we need all the "AAA" just like the batteries or "attention, affection and acceptance" and what about "C" for compassion and "D" for direction? If any of these don't work, sit for a while with them and be a light in their darkness until they feel a bit brighter and happier. God bless all the wonderful people who work in our hospitals, care centres, nursing homes. They are just God's chosen people. God bless them all. As I walk along the shore the waves seem to whisper their comfort and empathy as they have done for millennia before. Then I sit and rest for a while and the gentle breeze travels softly across the ocean to kiss my face and fill my heart with grace and new courage.

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to another wonderful day of weather. On wonderful days like this when I walk on the shore it is hard to hold on to one's problems and troubles. As I walk along the shore the waves seem to whisper their comfort and empathy as they have done for millennia before. Then I sit and rest for a while and the gentle breeze travels softly across the ocean to kiss my face and fill my heart with grace and new courage. These gifts are given to us daily and freely by nature and are with us day by day. Such solace and peace sustains us daily on our way towards happiness. The more connected we are the more we know ourselves and the more we see our connection and relationship with others. All life is about people and connectedness and when we realise that the divine lives in all of us, no matter how deep in some, then we can really come home to ourselves.

Good morning everyone and welcome. What another beautiful morning here at Ballinwillin House. It is on mornings like these that we feel really connected with the earth, the animals and all creation. As a celtic race of people we need to be connected, we crave it within ourselves. The more connected we are the more we know ourselves and the more we see our connection and relationship with others. All life is about people and connectedness and when we realise that the divine lives in all of us, no matter how deep in some, then we can really come home to ourselves. At times we ask ourselves "how can a single person like me make a difference?" Well, see what the Dalai Lama says about size and making a difference. He quotes "have you ever tried sleeping with a mosquito? I believe that speaks for itself and we can all make that difference today and everyday no matter how small.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, Gardens and RetrEat centre. We live in a very consumerised world with everyone very buy in their lives to pay just a little bit of attention to each other and look after each other. The important thing to remember in our lives to be aware of is that we can all make a difference and we can all make a difference for the betterment of mankind and the environment. At times we ask ourselves "how can a single person like me make a difference?" Well, see what the Dalai Lama says about size and making a difference. I can see that people who live close to nature can measure their health and wellbeing according to their harmony with nature. The air around us has penetrating strength for mind and body and every morning the dew of hope will always fall and it sprinkles our imagination and belief.

For much of September I usually live life very close to nature both physically and spiritually. It is not intentional, it just happens as I firmly believe nature has the power to nurture life. Our spirituality is a tapestry of faith, compassion and love all weaved together in the love of the earth. I can see that people who live close to nature can measure their health and wellbeing according to their harmony with nature. The air around us has penetrating strength for mind and body and every morning the dew of hope will always fall and it sprinkles our imagination and belief.
