The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary 317

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 27 of our latest lock down. This morning the neighbourhood is cold with the winter freeze but soon we will experience the death of winter and the birth of spring, but also this morning in Ballinwillin we mourn the death and passing of Joe Mulcahy our neighbour, a legend in the music business and a founding member of the famous Maurice Mulcahy Band. A band that gave huge enjoyment to thousands of people worldwide. This morning our prayers are with his family, friends and neighbours. Now destiny calls Joe to a place of music where his trumpet will sound again for all our spiritual enjoyment, where his heart will always remain generous, all heavenly doors will open to his musical light as you now quietly befriend your death and you have no need to fear. You are among your own orchestra in the big band with your pure white suit you are now equal to your destiny and nearer to Earths heart. Rest in peace Joe. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 406

I really believe we as a people need rituals to negotiate the vital crossings in our lives. So, on this beautiful Sunday do something traditional and be alive, be caring and mindful

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 116 into our latest lockdown. It is another Sunday and another beautiful day beckons but going back to the old Sundays in West Limerick, Sunday was always full of ritual. Early morning milking cows then the big wash before first mass at 8am. Put on your Sunday best suit, collect the glistening, polished black shoes from the previous night and all off to the Sunday mass ritual and everyone corralled into the appropriate church seat. This was ritual at its highest order like it or not. Now our new Sundays are bereft of ritual and custom and yet with our new found wealth and technology we can be haunted by loneliness and I believe we have unlearned the grace and beauty of presence and belonging, I am not being an old fuddy duddy here, I really believe we as a people need rituals to negotiate the vital crossings in our lives. So, on this beautiful Sunday do something traditional and be alive, be caring and mindful, send blessings and healings to all who need it and wear your Sunday best smile.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 405

Our Celtic ancestors never took a new day for granted but as a gift from God and is understood as a time of reflective blessing which embraces God, self, others and nature.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 115 into our latest lock down. On Thursday evening last I was invited to join a zoom meeting of International mindful people from all over the world and this was led by the very powerful and brilliant Sue Cooper. Much was discussed particularly regarding the soil, earth and water and I thought to myself in the aftermath how our own Celtic spirituality is so important but much forgotten about by modern generations. Our Celtic ancestors never took a new day for granted but as a gift from God and is understood as a time of reflective blessing which embraces God, self, others and nature. There is a beautiful piece of poetry and often song as well called the Deers Cry and how opportunate as we opperate a deer farm. It goes as follows:-

I arrive today through God's strength direct me,

Gods might to uphold me,

Gods wisdom to guide me,

Gods eye to look before me,

God's ear to hear me,

Gods word to speak to me,

Gods hand to guard me,

Gods way to lie before me,

God's shield to protect me,

Gods hosts to save me from sneering of devils, from the temptation of vices, from everyone who wishes me ill, affar and anear, alone and in multitude. This poem articulates the Celtic recognition of the ever and always presence of God in our lives. Enjoy your Saturday and take a little time to lean on these words and wear your smile as you bless and heal all around you.

I believe we should celebrate the earth every day and on discussing the subject with my son John last evening he was remarking how special and very different the smell of spring is at the moment. The soft rain massaging the fragrances from the trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses – all for us to inhale and heal us on this special day.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 113 into our latest lockdown. Today is a very historical Mother Earth day. It is ironic really that at such a beautiful time of the year we are celebrating Earth Day and totally fitting. I believe we should celebrate the earth every day and on discussing the subject with my son John last evening he was remarking how special and very different the smell of spring is at the moment. The soft rain massaging the fragrances from the trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses – all for us to inhale and heal us on this special day. Let us remember the sanctity of our ancient clay that holds the memories for all the seasons, past and present, live life to the full, to dream with the earth in mind, spirit and light. Have a beautiful, mindful, spiritual, special day and wear your healing smile.

I see one of my beautiful signs on the thinking path " The quieter you become the more you can hear" If we could all see the world in a beautiful wildflower we could hold infinity in the palm of our hands and eternity in an hour and relax into a calm, peaceful and mindful day.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 112 into our latest lockdown. This morning on the farm there is a beautiful soft peace and silence. Only the birds are making soft melodious music and I see one of my beautiful signs on the thinking path " The quieter you become the more you can hear" If we could all see the world in a beautiful wildflower we could hold infinity in the palm of our hands and eternity in an hour and relax into a calm, peaceful and mindful day. In those times our genetic signature was in everything we thought and did. We were taught always to praise the imagination of the earth and that everything, with patience, came from this stillness of the earth. Take a little time today to salute the silence of the earth

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 111 of our latest lock down. I don't know if you were watching the program on RTE on Sunday evening about the Burren. This is a program I would urge every Irish person to view. Why? Well firstly this was produced by fabulous researchers and narrated beautifully and softly by the soft voice of Brendan Gleeson and it traced our ancestors back over millions of years right back to our hunter gatherer times when we lived by and from nature. In those times our genetic signature was in everything we thought and did. We were taught always to praise the imagination of the earth and that everything, with patience, came from this stillness of the earth. Take a little time today to salute the silence of the earth and the sublime stillness that always dreams and fills our hearts. Let us pray that the kindness of the earth opening to receive our warm forms into the final stillness where we will dream with Mother Earth. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your Tuesday smile.

When I was outside with them in nature and holding their trusting, tiny hands I said to myself what can be more pure and simple than that of a childs pumping and beating little heart.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 111 of our latest lock down. During the weekend we had the pleasure and joy of having our beautiful grandchildren with us again at Ballinwillin and it filled our hearts with happiness. When I was outside with them in nature and holding their trusting, tiny hands I said to myself what can be more pure and simple than that of a childs pumping and beating little heart. I felt surely there can be no greater happiness than these magic moments and yes it takes time to see and appreciate these magic moments. Look for them, they are everywhere. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your Monday start of weak smile.

We look back closely at the flowers and shrubs and trees in all their glory but seeing them is not enough. We must be the thing we see, we must feel the thing we see, look closely at its colour until its blueness or yellowness becomes as real as sound. We must enter into the small silences between the leaves, buds, blossoms and flowers. Above all we must love our time and touch the very peace and beauty from where they came.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 109 of our latest lock down. Yes it is another beautiful Sunday morning here at Ballinwillin House. On most Sunday mornings we look back closely at the flowers and shrubs and trees in all their glory but seeing them is not enough. We must be the thing we see, we must feel the thing we see, look closely at its colour until its blueness or yellowness becomes as real as sound. We must enter into the small silences between the leaves, buds, blossoms and flowers. Above all we must love our time and touch the very peace and beauty from where they came. If we are in love with nature then why are we asleep? If we are not present in this millisecond of life and conscious experience then we are not alive, we are merely thinking our lives and yet we have seen so many people die looking back over their shoulders at their lives and shaking their heads muttering in bewilderment what was that all about?

Being Irish is a very special feeling indeed but if we are to live up to this legacy we must bring our own creative power to birth and we must imagine ourselves as creative, fruitful, mindful, caring and loving people and all precious and unique in Gods sight

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 107 of our latest lock down. Being Irish is a very special feeling indeed but if we are to live up to this legacy we must bring our own creative power to birth and we must imagine ourselves as creative, fruitful, mindful, caring and loving people and all precious and unique in Gods sight and when we have achieved this goal we must act and be comfortable and be who we are meant to be and called to be. We must be content in what we have. Rejoice in the way things are and then you suddenly realise that there is nothing lacking in your life. Now the whole world belongs to you but continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

Spring, bursting and bubbling, spring cleaning and planting everywhere here at Ballinwillin House but now for the second year in a row, no guests to share it all with and I feel a lacking in my heart because of the sadness I feel. Something is missing from my heart despite all the beautiful surroundings at Ballinwillin House but I say to myself, even in lock down, I can move around the beautiful gardens and farm and then I think again, I have peace of mind. I can find happiness even in the most difficult of circumstances. Continue to pray for peace and happiness to all and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 104 of our latest lock down. We had a lovely walk on the farm we call Johns Mountain this morning. It was beautiful and quiet, just the animals, the birds and the free flowing river and then I thought to myself that a single act of admiration to nature by us is not enough. We must live with beauty without any straining effort to admire, we must be quiet, attentive and absorb all around us until by degrees the beauty of nature becomes one with our blood that flows through our veins. It is a choice, our choice, your choice. Continue to pray, especially this day for people in our area that are very ill, power blessings and healings to them so that they too can smile today.

Nature has taught us anyway that nothing lasts forever and after winter always comes the beautiful fresh spring.

Good morning and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 103 of our latest lock down. It is Monday and the beginning of another week. This morning on the farm the weather is softer. You can almost hear the grass growing and the new bright and amazing light of spring has finally arrived after the long winter. Nature has taught us anyway that nothing lasts forever and after winter always comes the beautiful fresh spring. The light that I see this morning is almost a neon light that rushes into my body and mind and I feel it spread slowly inside me, warming me, healing me and suddenly I see colour in the stillness of the morning light. It seems that I have been visited by a new world. Enjoy this beautiful day and continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your Monday smile.

Why can't we first support people in need or who are suffering in any way and send them healing and pray for them. Give them courage to seek solutions for their difficulties and hard times because we all know how hard the issues seem right now but they will pass, they will go away. There is always sunrise somewhere.

Good morning and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 102 of our latest lock down. It is another Sunday and another day of welcome rest and peace. I was watching Ryan Tubridy on Friday night where he interviewed Rachel Gorry, a young woman who lost her husband who was only 30 years old with 3 young children. Listening to her pain and the way that some people attacked her story through social media. I ask this question - what is wrong with people in this world of ours? Why can't we first support people in need or who are suffering in any way and send them healing and pray for them. Give them courage to seek solutions for their difficulties and hard times because we all know how hard the issues seem right now but they will pass, they will go away. There is always sunrise somewhere. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your Sunday smile.

There are wonderful people in this world and it is most important that we never allow any one person who endeavours to undo the love of millions of others.

Good morning and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 101 of our latest lock down. The Mindful Farmer is just blown away by the support, prayers and kindness that have flown my way since I suffered my recent illness. There are wonderful people in this world and it is most important that we never allow any one person who endeavours to undo the love of millions of others. There will always be evil people out there but I love the quote from St. Francis of Assisi "when we leave this life we take nothing with us that we have received only that which we have given." If we give we shall receive plus we will have less to carry. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your Saturday smile.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 100 of our latest lock down. This morning I am coming to you from the fields. It is a beautiful Spring morning here at Ballinwillin House Farm and from now on The Mindful Farmer will do his best to do his lives outside depending on the weather and the self being. This morning as you can see I am with the much famed Biffo, our master wild boar stud. He is now with his long standing girlfriend Lulu and a new, young female called Lilly. They are just mating now and we only mate the wild boar once a year in fine weather and in season. As I have often said before "animals know this world better than we ever did, or do or will." They have a relaxed and seamless presence and they always seem to rest in the here and now and engrain themselves deep in the soil. They can feel the earth breathing with them and I believe we can learn a lot from them and learn to feel the earth breathing with us. This morning I am going to indulge in The Mindful Immersion Exercise. This exercise is all about escaping from the constant stress and strivings of our daily routines and cultivating an appreciation, contentment in being. The challenge here is to choose a job, a chore, that you don't particularly like and in my case it is painting. So what I try to do is to relax into it, try to enjoy it and get into the proper frame of mind and immerse myself in it.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 99 of our latest lock down. What I find with jobs like this, I actually end up enjoying it which always leads to a happy day and when I finish the job I always stand back and enjoy the beauty of what I have achieved. I then say to myself with a little smile "well done Patrick" A personal triumph. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.
