The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary 317

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 27 of our latest lock down. This morning the neighbourhood is cold with the winter freeze but soon we will experience the death of winter and the birth of spring, but also this morning in Ballinwillin we mourn the death and passing of Joe Mulcahy our neighbour, a legend in the music business and a founding member of the famous Maurice Mulcahy Band. A band that gave huge enjoyment to thousands of people worldwide. This morning our prayers are with his family, friends and neighbours. Now destiny calls Joe to a place of music where his trumpet will sound again for all our spiritual enjoyment, where his heart will always remain generous, all heavenly doors will open to his musical light as you now quietly befriend your death and you have no need to fear. You are among your own orchestra in the big band with your pure white suit you are now equal to your destiny and nearer to Earths heart. Rest in peace Joe. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 306

There is a massive public outcry at present concerning the Mothers and Babies homes and the way these women and babies were treated by most of society and this outcry is well justified. What can we do now? The government, the church and the state must do the right thing with the society of people involved with regard to compensation and health care but that in itself won’t heal the wounds that society has inflicted.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 16 of our latest lock down. In my humble opinion all the people and babies who have suffered and lost their lives and many infant innocent lives are owed a debt by all society even up to now and we can all help by praying for the rest of their spiritual souls and I mean constant prayer so that all their spiritual souls and voices can take their place in the heavenly spiritual chair and look down on us with forgiveness. We must now invite the humility and acceptance of these deeds so that one day we may look back in recognition and appreciation of the disappointment and horror we must now endure and here’s praying that the light through this prayer will illuminate all our faces though cruel as it is now. May we be shown a deeper kindness than we have shown to the hidden eye. Continue to pray, bless and send healing to them and wear a dark scarfed smile today.

Last evening on Nationwide there was a full programme devoted to the mental health issues in society and particularly in farming where many farmers work on their own. I have a beautiful sign on a tree in my thinking path in the gardens and it says “just when the caterpillar thought the world was over he became a beautiful butterfly”. This is a beautiful message and so true.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 15 of our latest lock down. Many people think that during the day and into night time that a problem may be huge but with a little rest and a new day the problem will always ease if we pray and leave it in the hands of God overnight. The Mindful Farmer is always available to help and give advice to anyone who needs it, just make contact and I just can’t wait until we have guests back and retreats back when this lock down is over. Stay strong. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

Walking through the fields this morning and looking at the daffodils peeping their heads out of the soil no matter what the conditions or what awaits them gives one great faith and appreciation of nature and how Mother Nature is endeavouring to provide us all with hope. I think to myself isn't it wonderful all this and isn't it wonderful that we don't take it for granted.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 14 of our latest lock down. I think to myself isn't it wonderful all this and isn't it wonderful that we don't take it for granted. It is wonderful that we see the light and belief in nature and its wonderful gifts to us all. We appreciate the fruits of nature more when we are at ease, rested and in silence and then in its wisdom, nature surprises us. We arrive at our ability to wonder and be surprised by being still within ourselves and the amazing gift of all of this is that it is available out there every day just be alert and not take Mother Nature for granted. Embrace Her. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 303

The most important time of the day and the most crucial period of the whole day is the first 3 minutes of that day. These 180 seconds are the key moments to deciding which way we travel for the day. Is it the road to positivity or is it the road to negativity? We all have the choice.

Good morning everyone and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 13 of our latest lock down. This morning I am going to talk to you about preparing for the day and each day of our lives as discussed on the Pat Kenny show live yesterday. The most important time of the day and the most crucial period of the whole day is the first 3 minutes of that day. These 180 seconds are the key moments to deciding which way we travel for the day. Is it the road to positivity or is it the road to negativity? We all have the choice. First we give thanks and praise for all and who we have and then we smile out loud or laugh out loud for 10 seconds and you then declare you are having a great day. By doing so, you send a message through your whole body that you are happy and you see yourself as having a joyful day. This mental message also sends a message of positivity around your entire nervous system. It is a really powerful mechanism. So try practicing from today onwards and let me know how it is working for you. Believe it and it will happen. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your beautiful smile.

The Mindful Farmers Daily Diary Day 302

Over the Christmas period and into January The Mindful Farmer is blessed with the presence of our grandchildren Ada and JJ. They are very active now and think The Mindful Farmer is great and long live that relationship. Out in the farm every day and in the garden and they all wrapped up in their Winter suits and wellies - it is magic. I often think when I am with them and they so active and they totally focused on the now. Children do "now" the best.

They are very active now and think The Mindful Farmer is great and long live that relationship. Out in the farm every day and in the garden and they all wrapped up in their Winter suits and wellies - it is magic. I often think when I am with them and they so active and they totally focused on the now. Children do "now" the best. I marvel at the creation of these tiny individuals, no doubt the creation of any individual is a divine masterpiece. We were all dreamed about long before we were born. Our souls, minds and hearts were fashioned in divine imagination and there is no doubting that such care and attention goes into the creation of each of us. The fact we are all so individual and unique, one of our big challenges is to inhabit our own individuality and be who we are meant to be and express our life to the full. The great achievement at this present time is to be yourself and remember, to be born is to be chosen. Each one of us has something special to do in this world. If someone else could do it then they would be here, not us. Today I give thanks and praise for the divine beauty of our grandchildren and all the great people I am fortunate to know. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your smile.

This morning I said to myself I am going to spend a little longer barefoot in the garden and get to grips with the January Siberian weather. It is a psychological test of mind and breathing to help my own healing as I go through the body scan to help my back problems and it feels great after about 15 minutes. On my way back to the house I breathe in the silver grass and the tinsel clothed plants and trees.

It is a psychological test of mind and breathing to help my own healing as I go through the body scan to help my back problems and it feels great after about 15 minutes. On my way back to the house I breathe in the silver grass and the tinsel clothed plants and trees. Right now and in this moment I permeate all things and that they may never die and I am the life, a life that can send blessings and healings to all who need it and look for it. Life and home need energy, power and prayer. Prayer enhances all life both in the family and outside and gives us a much deeper understanding of where we have come from and where we are destined for. My wish for all of you out there on this frosted Sunday morning is that you will find hope in your heart and approach this new day with your dreams, possibilities and promises and may your soul console and renew you. Wear your smile and wash your hands.

The Mindful Farmer is coming to you a little later than usual today as I am recuperating from some health tests and I am just back from hospital. It is that time of year when my brilliant minder and doctor Clint insists on these tests and particularly with my back problems at present. Now, onwards and upwards. When I was lying there and thinking and meditation, one issue that kept coming into my mind within the breathing was "how important it is to have a big heart" I believe it is the most important thing in life.

When I was lying there and thinking and meditation, one issue that kept coming into my mind within the breathing was "how important it is to have a big heart" I believe it is the most important thing in life. The heart has more chambers than is medically explained. It subdivides to cover all areas of emotion and from sunrise to sunset it ebbs and flows with our river of life and during this time I hope it will flow alongside and inside my aging body reminding me to be gentle with myself and gradually I will return to my real and full self, learning a new respect for all hearts and the joy that dwells within when we rest and time is slow. The mornings are amazing, a white, crisp, unspoilt carpet of snow blankets the farm and gardens, beauty covered up and laid bare. All types of shadows reflect from the snow white carpet. It is a new world, temporary though it may be. It also refers to the dark side of night awaiting a bright new dawn. This type of seasonal change reflects human nature also, our shadowy dark side as well as our bright, light, beautiful side.

It is a new world, temporary though it may be. It also refers to the dark side of night awaiting a bright new dawn. This type of seasonal change reflects human nature also, our shadowy dark side as well as our bright, light, beautiful side. Does it remind us to get to know ourselves better and to accept ourselves for who we are? As we tread over this beautiful. light carpet do we walk on a new road to discovering and knowing ourselves more freely every day? Opening up and discovering ourselves helps us identify pain and suffering of others especially the people who we care for. If we run away from our pain in our lives it limits us in how we care for others. What we must never do is accept oneself completely. The footprint we leave behind in the snow cannot be retraced and whatever shape this snow takes may we always be free to be who we are meant to be. Continue to pray, bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your beautiful smile.

Well, all during yesterday I got a tremendous response to Nollaig na mBan or Womens Christmas. It is great to see that the tradition is alive and well in some parts of the country anyway. I believe it helps us all in our sense or struggle to belong. It is always nice to remember us belonging and I believe it creates harmony between soul and life and that in itself creates a sanctuary for us to visit especially on special day during the year.

January 6th was always a special day in the old days back in West Limerick. It was and is Little Christmas or Womens Christmas and I don't mean that in a sexist manner. The women of the house and especially my Mum weren't allowed to lift a finger or do any work on the farm or in the kitchen, just rest and be pampered. Dad would be setting the scene since Christmas and reminding us to lend our support and to honour the women in the house.

It was always a wonderful occasion for the women in the house but the person of high honour was my Mum. Where can we go everyone is asking but we all know we are locked down and in our homes, farms and our immediate environments. So what do we do when we meet ourselves in this way? Do we meet a stranger or are we at peace in our company? Here we have a beautiful opportunity and its opportunity is presented in the stillness of silence. Wisdom guides us to embrace those trails that were previously unknown to us or more poignantly able to face. Meeting oneself in this way can be disturbing but once we accept and embrace ourselves it brings us a peace and a calm we didn't know before.

This morning as I walked on the crusted, frosty grass the cold seemed unrelenting and then when I think of the Covid numbers almost at 5000, I am worried. I am worried for my family, my co workers, my friends and this beautiful country. The path that we have so painfully taken seems to have been washed away behind us and in front of us and the way forward is very concealed from us by a low fog.

The path that we have so painfully taken seems to have been washed away behind us and in front of us and the way forward is very concealed from us by a low fog. Many of our beautiful traditions have been lost in the past 12 months and it seems that our new life is too young to be born and birth has been delayed. We cannot lay claim to anything now so this cold and foggy morning reminds me that our eyes are blurred and we seem to be losing sight of our hearts and souls. Where do we put our trust now that we all have to make our own way in a very responsible way? The old and faithful ways will prevail. Our hearts will become more refined and true and then we welcome the arrival of a new virus free dawn. At this time of year as it is beginning, The Mindful Farmer likes to ease into it in solitude, silence and with nature. I always regard it as a mystical time of year when we are surrounded by the wonders of the world. Nature is one of the great wonders of the world and it is greatly at rest now. The leaves have left the trees bare. Sometimes when I think about the bare trees and leaves I think the leaves measure our years. They are gone as the days are gone and the bare branches silently speak of a new year slowly advancing its foliage, its buds and its fruit. Our lives, like the trees, have their seasons.

It is Thursday the 31st December and the last day of a very tough and trying year for the people of Ireland and all over the world. There is much in the future and in the present we cannot see or understand but that doesn’t matter much to us if we have purpose in our lives. If we are happy and content this state will lead to balance in our human life and not allow us drift through life. It will lead us through a path to peace and happiness and as this year draws to an end we give thanks for the gifts it has brought and how they become part of us where neither time nor tide can touch them.

The surprises that 2020 brought us we never could have expected as if they were hidden in the forgotten corners of our fields for decades and now they pierce our every sore with salt. From these darkened corners, secret sorrows poured like the river behind our house. My hope and prayers now is for the secret, streaming sorrows of 2020 be buried and loosened in the stream never to return. And now on this eve of something great and new, we bless this year for all it has taught us. Also for all we have loved and lost and here’s praying it will bring us all together nearer to our invisible dream. Happy New Year from an optimistic and prayerful Mindful Farmer.

For The Mindful Farmer this is a beautiful time of year. Business is quiet and maybe even quieter, the family is all around, phones not ringing and on the farm we do the minimum just feeding all the animals, bedding them and checking they are having a nice and restful time as we are. It is a time of year where most farmers and most people rest and let their minds and bodies heal. It is a time when I listen for my longing to be free and where my belonging is generous enough to let me dream.

We know how to treat the garden but do we know how to look after ourselves. We all need creativity and vitality in our lives to transcend monotony and in this way we will radiate freshness as we live constantly awake and constantly awakening. Every one of us is tasked to make our lives more fruitful even in times that are tough. It is another beautiful and restful Sunday. My parents would often say how we spend our days is how we spend our lives. We always seem to think that if we just get through today, tomorrow will be better. This doesn’t always follow and it is no way to live our lives. We should not fit too much into any one day and even though I meditate on average 1.5 hours each day I find it is not enough to do what I need to do.

Good morning and welcome once more to Ballinwillin House Farm, gardens and RetrEat centre on day 3 of our newest lock down. When I meditate I need to add more with prayers and healing to all who need it. My plan for 2021 if I am still breathing is to spend more time alone and in prayer. In the early Christian times important changes and decisions were referred to the Holy Spirit for his sensitive promptings, for his advice and support so things will go well for me, my family and my friends. Wouldn’t it be nice for us all to do the same from now on? Have a lovely day and continue to pray. Bless and power healing to all who need it and wear your Sunday best smile.

God bless.
